A proper summer escape with everything you need
The beaches here are something else. Spent days at Banana Beach and the water is this crazy clear turquoise colour you only see in postcards. The town itself is easy to get around and the seafood tavernas along the port are brilliant.
Great mix of beach and town life
Zakynthos Town has a really relaxed feel to it. Solomos Square is lovely to sit at in the evening with a coffee or a cold beer. The food is proper Greek - fresh, simple, tasty. Loved the local dishes like sofrito, very different from what I expected.
Perfect base for exploring the island
Stayed in the town center and it worked out really well. Everything is within walking distance and the locals are genuinely friendly, not just tourist-friendly. The port area in the evening is buzzing with people and the grilled octopus at the waterfront spots is a must.
Lovely Greek island town, easy to enjoy
Really enjoyed my time here. The Church of Saint Dionysios is impressive and worth a visit. Streets are easy to navigate, restaurants are reasonably priced, and the pastries from the local bakeries are genuinely great. Good spot for people who want beaches but also a bit of culture.
Solid choice for a summer holiday
The town has a nice mix of local life and tourist stuff without feeling overdone. Alexandrou Roma Street has loads of good spots to eat and shop. Water is clean, sun is strong, and the locals make you feel welcome. Greek salad and local wine at dinner every night - no complaints.
Quiet off-season gem worth visiting
Came in December and it was peaceful in the best way. Most tourist spots were open, prices were low, and you got a real sense of how locals actually live here. The Byzantine Museum on Solomos Square is small but really interesting. Glad I went outside peak season.
